Warhammer 40000

Methodology

Solo

Thresholds

  • Minimum entries for a tournament to be included: 8
  • Minimum rounds for a tournament to be included: 3

Periods

  • Each bucket covers: 7 days
  • Available windows (number of buckets): 1, 2, 4, 8, 12, 26

Credibility thresholds

  • Minimum games for a faction row: 20
  • Minimum games for a matchup row: 10

Below the threshold, the row is grayed out rather than hidden. The estimated range shows the 95% confidence interval (Wilson score) around the true win rate: the smaller the sample, the wider that range, which is a fairer read than the raw win rate alone on a small sample.

Recalculation

Buckets recomputed on each run: 8

How draws are handled

A draw counts as half a win, both in the displayed win rate and in the Wilson lower bound.

Where classifications come from

Classifications (detachment, force disposition, ...) are detected automatically by matching patterns against army list content.

The win rate matrix is only shown for the axes chosen by the MHQ team. A value's global win rate counts every game of the lists classified with that value, including against unclassified or non-public lists and mirrors. A cell only counts games where both lists are public and classified on the axis, mirrors excluded: the global win rate is therefore not the average of its row. The global win rate is greyed out below the faction row game threshold, a cell below the matchup row game threshold.

X-0 and X-1 lists

X-0 and X-1 count lists by their player's own record over a whole tournament — in Team format too, the player's individual record, whatever the team's result. The player must have played every round of the tournament (a bye counts as a round played, but neither as a win nor as a loss); a player who dropped, or with a game not validated yet, is neither X-0 nor X-1.

  • X-0: only wins.
  • X-1: only wins except exactly one draw or exactly one loss.
